Last week, IBAT’s Director of Government Relations Steve Scurlock made an appearance on the IntraFi podcast, Banking with Interest, hosted by Rob Blackwell.
In the conversation, Scurlock reflected on lessons learned throughout his career as a regulator and then a community banking advocate in Austin and Washington, D.C. Scurlock highlighted concerns about the political and regulatory environment’s shift from right to left (politically) and the uncertainty created for the industry as it aims to serve its customers. Earlier this year, Scurlock announced his pending retirement from the Independent Bankers Association of Texas on December 31, following more than 28 years of service.
