The Fed Beige Book indicated that “widespread tightening in credit standards” have contributed to the economic slowdown, while lending activities “have increased in the Philadelphia, Richmond and St. Louis Districts…” Additionally, nine of the twelve districts reported a slowdown in economic activity, whereas Boston, Cleveland, and Richmond experience “mixed or steady” activity.
